Weekly Wrap Up (6/11/18) – (6/15/18)

With the speed at which news comes out in the gaming industry we sometimes miss important or news worthy things. Some of these things we want to talk about in a way that is both easy for you guys and allows us to get all the facts together as some of these stories develop quickly. Sometimes we also just cover topics that we find interesting and want to discuss.

Reddit mods ban posts about Battlefield 5s historical accuracy

Complaints about upcoming Battlefield 5 historical accuracy have reached a limit of what moderators can stand acording to post on PC Gamer, banning people who post about it due to do being “unable to have a civil discussion about these things without devolving into name calling and slapfights.”

Ozzy’s thoughts:  While I have no complaints about women being in the game and since the historical accuracy of the Battlefield series has long ago dropped off the fact that this upcoming iteration isn’t “accurate” I genuinely don’t care.  The fact that it’s gotten this bad in discussion threads…well this is the internet.  If theirs not a death threat, a “your mom” insult or a tirade about hating “the guy who countered me with facts” on a previous post then something’s wrong with the internet and we might be nearing a utopia in the world at that point.

The internet seems to be angry about BF5 for “artistic licenses” in history, angry about women being in it and who knows what else.  Long before this game was given any details, we knew this was not going to be “accurate” no matter how much they shove “WORLD WAR 2” in your face.  Just no.  It’s EA/Dice, it’s what they do.  Anyone that thought they were going to “redeem” themselves by making an accurate WWII game was/is delusional.  In the end, for me, its “will the game be fun to play” because Battlefield 1 was a hackneyed attempt at a game that was just broken at the onset, to which I was hoping would be fixed over time and all we got was more DLC that split the community to the point that the game feels dead as they add there competitive mode to it.

No matter your thoughts on anything, people should really be more…what’s the word, oh yes…ADULT about discussions.  You can disagree with me, I can disagree with you, doesn’t mean I want to kill you because I don’t agree with you.  Everyone needs to grow the fuck up up and be civil.

Simple rule for people who are thinking of buying it.

1)  Does the accuracy of World War 2 bug you?  If yes, don’t buy it and shut up.

2)  Are you annoyed with anyone in the game (regardless of gender) with a prosthetic arm (most likely just a skin but still) being able to function normally in game?  If yes, don’t buy it and shut up.

3)  Does the EA/Dice annoy you with there business practices?  If yes, don’t buy it and shut up.

4)  If you really could care less that the game exists and have no plan on buying it but want to complain about the above?  If yes, continue to not buy it, keep your damn mouth shut and play something you like.
