Weekly Wrap Up (5/7/18) – (5/11/18)

With the speed at which news comes out in the gaming industry we sometimes miss important or news worthy things. Some of these things we want to talk about in a way that is both easy for you guys and allows us to get all the facts together as some of these stories develop quickly. Sometimes we also just cover topics that we find interesting and want to discuss.

Deadstick – Bush Flight Simulator Announcement Trailer

This week we have something different. An announcement trailer for a flight simulator. However this isn’t your normal flight simulator like X-Plane or even Elite Dangerous. This is a flight simulator that claims it will put you in the wilderness with no autopilot and limited navigational aids and let you earn a living delivering cargo as a bush pilot. It is supposed to be “out” later this year. I think that means it will release into Early Access later this year from the Steam page.

Wiggin’s thoughts on the subject :  I’ll be honest I’m slightly interested in this game. It looks like it could be a fun semi relaxing game where you fly your plane around to different areas in the wilderness and deliver goods or supplies. I also like that it’s going to be simulation based and not arcade. Not to mention it looks quite good from the provided material. According to their steam page they want to get VR and multiplayer along with shared cockpit. That sounds like it could be a lot of fun not to mention the environment looks quite nice so if you want I’m sure you could just fly around for fun and get lost in the wilderness. It says it’s coming late 2018 so look for it then.

Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock gets an Expansion

Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock launched last year and sold well enough that a small DLC of ships was added four months later. This week we found out that the game did well enough to add a proper expansion according to PCGamer, “The Broken Alliance” and continue to the story of the first Cylon War along with new ships and characters “…and brings a new story of intrigue and backstabbing to Deadlock.”

Ozzy’s Thoughts:  As a die-hard fan of the Re-imagined BSG, I was always disappointed that the only game we got related to it was a browser game (I was never enticed enough to play) released a few years after the show ended.  So many mods, including my personal favorite Homeworlds “Fleet Commander” showed that there were people who wanted a game of the Re-imagined and then Deadlock (get my thoughts about it here) came along and the gameplay was great and the music was fantastic.

If SyFy hadn’t canceled/converted/’did whatever the hell they did to’ “Blood and Chrome” we could’ve seen more of what happened during the first war but I can happily live with this game telling me more.  Personally I hope it does well enough that we get another expansion strictly for the story.  I can’t wait to get to use the precursor to Battlestar Pegasus (that ship was beautiful and Cain, while a bad person, I just loved her character.)  Can’t wait to blow up some more Frakking Toasters.
