Multiple sources saying that 2018 Battlefield game may be set in WW2
As posted by PC Gamer and echoed by other outlets throughout the week all point to the next Battlefield game being set during the second world war. Along with rumor and speculation there is a supposed leaked screen shot from BFV on Reddit. We don’t know for sure but there are some signs pointing to this being the case, hopefully we can get some official confirmation soon.
Wiggin’s thoughts on the subject : Alright so here we are in March of 2018 and it seems we have come full circle. I have fond memories of playing Battlefield 1942 during my youth. The initial idea of having Battlefield back representing the largest conflict in recent time is quite a thrilling idea. I would love to see what could be done with the Frostbite engine in a setting I have a soft spot for. However the longer I think and wonder what this experience may turn out like the more reality starts to seep in. We don’t have to look far back to realize the colossal nightmare that Battlefront 2 was and still is, not to mention the ongoing technical issues with Battlefield 1. Then I think of how Call of Duty World War II turned out and I’m starting to wonder what exactly I initially got so excited about. With two other more realistic focused World War II games on the horizon for 2018 it leaves me hoping for the best in regards to Battlefield 2018. Both Post Scriptum and Hell Let Loose are upcoming games that take a more realistic and authentic approach to the World War II setting. The sour taste that Battlefield 1 left in my mouth with its “fast” but set in WW1 experience speaks volumes to how the new Battlefield 2018 may shape up, more of the same. I can only hope that they take a long hard look at what made some of the older Battlefield games great and slow down the gameplay a bit and make it a lot more tactical.
