Last month Evolve Labs, the program many used to play games through a VPN to emulate LAN game conditions and also used to keep track of game time unexpectedly shut down. The company behind the software cited a few different reasons for closing their doors. Most notable was their inability to make revenue with their current system. Link to their original press release. They also quote failed acquisition and stiff competition as the reason for the shut down. I don’t really want to go into all their reasoning for the shut down because at the moment it is irrelevant. The important part of this article is to inform everyone that the service is back up and running. Their press release here explains that they have returned and are working on a path forward. While I can only hope that this software continues to grow and foster I wonder if it will run into similar issues down the line. Here is hoping that their funding and way forward benefit both them and the users, because at the end of the day there is nothing that has all the features Evolve does.
