With the speed at which news comes out in the gaming industry we sometimes miss important or news worthy things. Some of these things we want to talk about in a way that is both easy for you guys and allows us to get all the facts together as some of these stories develop quickly. Sometimes we also just cover topics that we find interesting and want to discuss.

Microsoft buys Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment studios

PCGamer informed us that Microsoft has bought the game studios Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment, best knows for Fallout: New Vegas and the Wasteland series respectively. Microsoft has said the studios will “continue to operate autonomously and bring their unique talents, IP, and expertise to Microsoft Studios as they build new RPG experiences for our players and fans.”

Ozzy’s thoughts: As a consumer of PC games and the history therein, I’m not exactly thrilled with this announcement. I know that Microsoft is trying to get back to gaming (whether that really turns out to be PC games again only time will tell) and buying this studios will help them but we know how well buying studios looks like a good thing then it turns to bad. Google EA buying almost every good game studio then closing them down eventually. Whether Microsoft will do the same, again, time will tell, I’m just a bit scared but I hope I’m wrong.
