Subnautcia: Ghost Update

The Ghost Leviathan is finally here. If you’re not a fan of dark and/or enclosed spaces well…this just got a bit harder for you. Ghosts show up when your in the Lost River (the juvenile version) and when you’re off map (adult version) but sometimes you’ll see them in open water and they all seem to kick like a mule. Don’t think that your now updated Cyclops can handle them, juveniles hurt a lot but then again all the big aggressive species seems to have gone through a re-work. Instead of the old fashioned “bite sub for 10 damage, big whoop” all the big ones seem to have been upgraded to “one bite equals 1/4-1/3 of your Cyclops health gone, oh crap run away.”

Interesting tidbit: you wanna play the “how long can I survive” game? Leave the map, get to the point where you can’t see the drop off anymore and wait. Given enough time, adult Ghosts will show up. I don’t mean one, I mean given enough time three will appear and do everything they can to destroy your sub and kill you. There sounds are great but very nightmare inducing, just like the Reapers but unlike Reapers who are very noisy, Ghosts are almost too quiet until they’re on top of you but you can hear this very faint “screaming” coming towards you but but if you’re somewhere like the Lost River, you sometimes can’t tell where they’re coming from.

But of course the biggest is of course what we’ve really all been waiting for: POOP!

That’s right, Sea Treader poop. It can’t be used as fertilizer yet for your grow beds but it can power you base like crazy.

But as we all know our favorite vessel, the Cyclops, now does get an upgrade.

You can now install six upgrades instead of just four which makes choosing what you need much easier. Silent Running is no longer “God” level awesome (shrinks your noise signature to almost nothing but it doesn’t completely hide you anymore) and it no longer is a timed ability but it now does use power to run. Shields can be toggled on/off, no timer but still uses a lot of power, and best of all, medium sized creatures no longer attack you. So the mass of 10 Bone Sharks won’t bother you anymore…unless you’re outside the sub that is. And those annoying Lava Larvae will show up on your ship status display so you don’t have to circle it three times to find it.

The main story is wrapping up, soon a rocket shall be on our list of things to make and finish the game.

This is just a small taste of what they added. Click on the link at the top or any of the pictures or gif to take you to the official announcement page.
